Review: Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill
Some Girls Bite is the debut novel from Chloe Neill and introduces us to the new and exciting world of the Chicagoland Vampires. Vampires have recently introduced themselves to society and are on a PR campaign to show the world that they are indeed civilized. After an interrupted attack by a rogue vampire, Merit, a 27 year old grad student, is converted against her will. The Commendation ceremony is only 6 days away and Merit has to decide whether to swear allegiance to Ethan Sullivan, the arrogant and compelling leader of the Cadogen House, or try to go it alone. Meanwhile, events are spinning out of control and being a vampire isn't her only problem. Someone is setting up the House vampires for murder, her eternal life is being threatened, she discovers that her Grandfather is the Ombudsman, a special "liaison" for the supernatural world, and her thoughts are torn between hating and wanting Ethan. When Ethan pronounces her the new House Sentinel, Merit must prove her loyalty in ways she never thought possible.
Look in the dictionary for the word stubborn and you'll find Merit, Sentinel, House of Cadogen! She may not have made the choice to become a vampire, but in the end, she owns it. The sexual tension between Merit and Ethan is positively electric. The tension just ratchets up a notch when Morgan, the Navarre House second, declares his interest in front of all the major Chicago vamps. I can't wait to see what happens next! The secondary character relationship with Mallory and Catcher is just another brilliant touch that leaves readers wanting more.
