Review: BORN TO BITE by Lynsay Sands

BORN TO BITE is a compelling paranormal romantic mystery that pairs sexy vampire Armand Argeneau with sassy enforcer Eshe d'Aureus in, of all places, a cozy rural farm setting.

The latest entry in Lynsay Sand's Argeneau vampire series, this novel can be read in the series order, or out of order.  I confess I have only read one previous book in this series, but wasn't lost at all to jump in with book #10, so I don't believe others will be confused or wonder if they missed something.  Characters from previous books make an appearance, but they are explained well.

The heroine, a sassy vampire enforcer who wears leather and rides a motorcycle, Eshe, is sent to keep an eye on Armand Argeneau when it is suspected he may have a hand in the deaths of his former wives.  He's a bit cold toward Eshe at first—the guy is very busy with his farm—and yet when they realize they are life mates, their mutual attraction instantly heats up.  And did you know vampires can suddenly start eating mortal food when they meet their life mate?  Cool!  Much eating occurs in this story, because the lovers want to take advantage of all the great foods they've missed in their centuries-long lives.

There's also a lot of fire.  Metaphorically and real flames that haunt the hero and enter his life once again now that he's found a new love.  But the majority of the flames come from Eshe and Armand as they navigate their lives together.  I would say this is a more quiet vampire story, not filled with so much action and adventure that the main couple rarely get time to breathe, but rather a slow and satisfying exploration into two lives that are brought together.  The mystery elements of the story do at times overwhelm the romance, but it all comes to a very surprising conclusion.

I'm excited to read this book. Lynsay Sands always has a spot on my keeper shelves- her mythology of the vampire world is unique and her characters are very well written.

Squeee! I am so stinking jealous! I love this series, and want this book so stinking bad. I have the one after this to review but I can't read it until I read this one,... I'm picky like that, I have to read this series in order. Or I'll die.... hey, it could happen, with me the unlikely is highly likely. lol. Loved the review. :)

Can't wait for Monday!

Michele, I love Lynsay Sands. Both her vampire series and her romance series. I have so many favorites of those Argeneau series. Lucerne is one of my favs. He was such a stick in a mud, until he met his lifemate. So I can't wait to read Born to Bite. I love those Argeneau men. I just so lucky that I have you and all my favorite authors to be able to read. Keep writing those wonderful books.
