VampBash: guest Cat Adams! And Daughters Of Darkness

So are you enjoying the giveaways?  Just a note: if you've been reading DRACULA for Bite Club we're discussing it right now, so click on over and let us know what you think of it.

Now on to today's guest, Cat Adams, whose latest release SIREN SONG (#2 Blood Singer series) is in stores now.  The first book in the Blood Singer series is BLOOD SONG.  Cat is giving away a copy of her book, but to win that you'll have to send her an email instead of commenting below (though do still comment to win other prizes).  She explain below...

Blood Song the first book in the Blood Singer series was inspired by a photograph I found in the dealer's room at a science fiction/fantasy convention.  I saw the photo, and I just knew.  It was one of those moments of pure inspiration that is a complete rush.  I had to hurry and write down the basics before they slipped away.  For weeks I was imagining the commercials from her world playing on the radio; picturing how an interview with the police would be handled.  It made daily life in this reality pale by comparison.

When Blood Song finished, it was time for Siren Song.  Cathy (my co-author) and I knew Celia well.  Knew the world she worked and lived in.  We simply followed the trail left in the first book to see where it would lead.  It led, inevitably enough, to the consequences (moral and legal) of the decisions she'd made at the end of Blood Song, and then to the Siren island, to face a heritage she'd never even known about.  We (and she) also found out the answer to her inevitable question "WHY ME?" and it was quite the surprise to us both.  (We'd tell, but that would be cheating.)

We hope you enjoy Siren Song and the entire Blood Singer series.  In it you'll get the chance to learn a bit about Siren culture -- something largely untapped in most urban fantasy mythos.  There's action galore, and a hint of romance as well.

If you're interested in winning a free copy, e-mail us as with VAMPCHIX in the RE.  One lucky winner will be drawn from the hat.  (Literally.  I keep a hat just for these occasions.)  Be sure to include your snail mail address in the entry so I can actually send the prize.

Siren Song blurb:
Bodyguard Celia Graves plies her trade in a world where vampires roam the alleys of Tinseltown, street-corner psychics have real powers, and cops use memory-enhancement spells.  Celia always thought she was an onrdinary human.

A recent vampire attack made Celia an Abomination.  She finds sunlight painful and must take her food in liquid form, but she still has her soul.  She's slowly adjusting to her new "lifestyle" when she discovers the attack has awakened a hidden part of her heritage.  Celia is part Siren, able to enthrall men . . . and enrage women . . . without half-trying.

Her best friend's murder is still unsolved; the cops are convinced Celia should be in jail or staked; and her old lover, mage Bruno DeLuca, has something important to tell her.  To top it all off, Celia's been summonedto the Siren's island for what might be a battle to the death---assuming she's not killed before she even sets sail.

Celia Graves has more than one enemy.  Some of them want her blood.  Some of them want her soul.  All of them want her dead.

Thanks Cat!

Now, after you've sent Cat your email to be entered to win, don't forget to leave a comment here today! And one more great giveaway...

I (Anna from Bite Club) started reading V.C. Andrews books when I was in middle school and I still have the sets that my mother bought for me, beat up and worn from being read over and over again. Some of the themes were a bit grown up for a young teen but I was always an advanced reader, and I asked a million questions, so I don't think she (my mom) ever worried much. Over the years I have changed my reading preferences many times but I remain a character based reader, and I owe that partly to V.C. Andrews and the emotional people she wrote about. I'm curious to see what she envisioned for a vampire world and even more curious to see if the writing style is still the same.

The contest rules are simple. VampChix has 5 copies of this book to giveaway and all you have to do is leave a comment about your favorite V.C. Andrews book OR tell us what books have influenced you the most.

Daughter of Darkness
By V.C. Andrews
On Sale 10/26/10
ISBN: 9781439155011
Price: $7.99 ($9.99 CAN)

When I was a little girl, Daddy told me never to fear the dark. "We exist because of the darkness," he told me. "All of you are daughters of darkness."
Beloved bestselling author V.C. Andrews's passion for vampires comes to spellbinding life in a long-awaited novel of dark desires as all-consuming—and forbidden—as in Flowers in the Attic. One night, with the sound of a young man's scream, high school senior Lorelei discovers that her stern but loving father, who adopted Lorelei and her sisters as infants, is no ordinary man. He has raised his beautiful girls for one purpose: to lure young men into their world of shadows. Like her sisters, Lorelei has been trained in the art of seduction and warned never to fall in love. But when she meets a handsome and charming classmate, she boldly defies her family and follows her heart—even if love is a poison. . . .

Dangerously enticing and deliriously intoxicating, V.C. Andrews's Daughter of Darkness will leave readers thirsting for more.

Loved the Blood song, looking forward to reading Siren Song.

I don't remember if i read any of V.C. Andrew's book. The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead made me love to read again and open the doors to more YA novels.

I too read all of the V.C Andrews books. I only remember Flowers in the Attic. It was the first series I ever read.

Just finished Blood Song and I loved it. Siren Song is on the top of the TBR pile now. I haven't read any V.C. Andrews, but I will be adding some to my 'Wish list' today.

I think the book that will always pop back up in my head is 'Ugly Duckling' by Iris Johansen. It was the first 'Adult' book I read and I loved it. It has a strong lead character and I found her inspiring at the time I read it.
