Guest: Lorelei Bell

Please welcome author of Vampire Ascending, Lorelei Bell!

I've been interested in vampires since I was a teen. The Dracula movies never seemed to actually give enough of what the vampire could be, in my opinion, and now all these movies are classics, of course. The one that I felt brought the first real romantic element was with Frank Langella in the leading role of Dracula.

I began writing a vampire novel in 1983, and even though I tried as I might, I was still a novice, and was unpolished, and thus unpublished.

Fast forward to the present.

I remembered reading that the Gypsies believed that vampires had an insatiable sexual appetite and would return to have sex with either their lover, wife or husband.

This got me thinking. Why have vampire novels resisted making these creatures sexually insatiable? Why in the past have they merely been a scourge to kill, and they were always listed under the genre horror?

Thankfully we now have two separate, but closely related genres: Urban Fantasy, and Paranormal Romance.

I wanted to write something where the vampires' lust for sex was equally as insatiable as their need for blood. Thus, my series with Touch Clairvoyant, Sabrina Strong, begins with Vampire Ascending.

from the publisher about the book:

Sabrina Strong is a Touch Clairvoyant who knows a secret. She knows her mother was turned into a vampire when she was ten. Now that she is grown up, a powerful magnate in the Chicago business world hires her to reveal the identity of who relentlessly murders vampires in his ultra-modern stronghold of a hotel.

Sabrina is quickly immersed in romantic trysts and dangerous situations involving scheming vampires, shift changers, and werewolves.

Sabrina is not thrilled about the aspect working for vampires, but she needs the money, and she wants to find the gorgeous and mysterious vampire who has been turning up in her dreams. Is he the one who bit her when she was ten, marked her for his own, and turned her mother so long ago?

Little does Sabrina know that her whole life is about to change as her best friend becomes a victim, too and Sabrina is the only one who can find her. Her friend's fate intensifies the desperate need to find the murderer and, consequently, brings her into contact with a rogue vampire.

Sabrina is quickly immersed in romantic trysts and dangerous situations involving scheming vampires, shift changers, and werewolves.

With Vampire Ascending, Lorelei Bell has created a unique and mesmerizing mystery blending intricately detailed fantasy and romance with a contemporary setting. Her story features strong character development and provides new insights on a vampire's life including love, passion, heartache, hope, devastation, lust and longing.

Moreover, Vampire Ascending is an action-packed plot full of surprise. Bell delivers a well written and satisfying story that will leave the reader wanting more.

To Anonymous: I have to say this was quite rude, what you've done here. It's like butting in a long line in a grocery line at Wal Mart.

I earned the right to be at this blog by asking that my book be featured here. You did not.

You've gained the respect of no one, in fact this may go the other way for this author's book--which sounds pretty good, but still, you can't go around butting in line, this isn't how you get the attention of other people.

I'm making the fact this happened over at my own blog today: http://loreleismuse-lorelei.blogspot.com

The Undead Heart may go Un-read!
