When I picked up my copy of this book from the store my first thought was "wow, what a beautiful cover!" I think it is quite gorgeous actually. I mean come on, you have to give the YA genre some credit lately for some of the beautiful covers coming out lately. Some, like this one, are actually quite grown up! This one is actually one of my favorites! And, not just because the character featured is also one of my faves of the series. Although, I was happy to see him get a big spotlight in this book. That leads me into my review of the book...
Awakened, is the 8th book in the House of Night series of Young Adult books by PC Cast and Kristin Cast and this mother-daughter duo is just getting better and better! This is one of the best of the series. For me it had to do with the further development of some of the longstanding characters, some of which, only now are realizing their full potential.
"At the start of Awakened, the pulse-pounding eighth installment of the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey has returned, mostly whole, from the Otherworld to her rightful place as High Priestess at the House of Night. Her friends are just glad to have her back, but after losing her human consort, Heath, will Zoey—or her relationship with her super- hot Warrior, Stark—ever be the same? Stevie Rae is drawn even closer to Rephaim, the Raven Mocker with whom she shares a mysterious and powerful Imprint, but he is a dangerous secret that isolates her from her school, her red fledglings, and even her best friends. When the dark threat of Neferet—who is coming closer and closer to achieving her twisted goal of immortality—and Kalona returns, what will it take to keep the House of Night from being lost forever, and what will one desperate girl do to keep her heart from being irreparably broken?"Zoey, Stark, Stevie Rae & Rephaim...
Zoey had a shattered soul that was healing at the beginning of this book. She was accomplishing this on a beautiful island in Scotland under the watch of an ancient warrior queen.
Stark was there to save Zoey in the Otherworld, who actually saved him from death and now he was healing physically from very deep physical wounds.
"Yes, Stark, I'll tie my wishes and dreams for the future with you." ~Zoey RedbirdStevie Rae had a very big secret. She had imprinted with a Raven Mocker who had saved her life many times... Rephaim.
Rephaim had the furthest to grow and the most important choice(s) to make. Choices between light and dark, love and family bonds. A Raven Mocker, not human nor vampire, but a birdlike creature of the night... Eeeek!
"Oh, I see. I do understand because before I lost it, I learned a lot about love." ~DamienI can't, er won't, say more than that. Only that I wasn't disappointed in the least! Have you read it? If so, what did you think?
