Review: Immortal Eclipse by Sherry Soule

 Book Description:

A devoted fashionata and practical New Yorker, Skylar Blackwell doesn’t believe in the supernatural—until she inherits Summerwind Mansion. . . .

When her uncle is brutally murdered, and the cops seem uninterested in following up the case, Skylar journeys to California to seek answers. Her search for clues is soon overshadowed by haunting nightmares of a young woman also murdered in the house.

Now the inhabitants of Summerwind are mysteriously dying, leaving no evidence as to how or why, and Skylar finds herself in a deadly race against time to expose the killer—before they strike again.

The problem is . . . whoever it is may not be human.

Armed with only wit and Pradas, Skylar begins questioning the servants, but the growing list of suspects includes the sexy and brooding caretaker, Dorian, a man desperately trying to forget his tragic past. And a major distraction for Skylar.

Determined to play detective—instead of the fashion police—and unravel the dark history of the mansion, Skylar is plunged into an otherworldly mystery that not even she can explain away. As the boundaries between reality and dreams blur, Skylar’s greatest challenge is to stay alive long enough to learn the truth.
Jenny's review:
Skylar has inherited her deceased Uncle Gerard’s mansion in California. She hasn’t wanted to think about it, but now that she has lost her fashion photography job in New York, she is thinking that California might be a great place to start over. Little does she know that there are strange things happening at this beautiful house. When she finally gets there, knowing that she has to stay for thirty days to receive the inheritance, she is put off by the attitude of the staff that works there. She feels that they are being very rude and not welcoming her like they should. It becomes clear to Skylar that things are not as they seem, and that her Uncle’s suicide is quite suspicious. She is instantly attracted to the mysterious Dorian, and he seems to want to help her. As the staff starts to turn up dead, and the mysteries start to pile up, Skylar is almost willing to let the inheritance go, but she will have to stay alive first.
I was hooked on this story from the beginning. The mix of scary thriller and love story was a perfect pair in this story. I thought that the characters were instantly charming and the mystery was to good to let go. I didn’t want to put the book down so that I could try to solve the story. I liked how Skylar really wanted to give up in many parts, but was determined to make sure that justice was served.  There was a serious twist that I did not see coming which made the story even more interesting. Great read!!
