Afterlife with Archie: Comic Review

Afterlife with Archie, Number 1, story by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and artwork by Francesco Francavilla

Comic Description:
"All hell breaks loose when a fateful accident sets a series of events in motion that will threaten the town of Riverdale like never before! When the dead begin to rise, craving human flesh, it's up to Archie, Betty & Veronica to fight for their lives against the zombie hordes led by their former pal, Jughead..."

Angie's Review:
Ok guys, this JUST came out on the 9th, so go hit your comic book stores. This one is worth buying. They have issued a second printing to keep up with demand, so hopefully you'll be able to find this.
I stumbled onto this little beauty thanks to a clerk at Super Fly Comics in Yellow Springs, Ohio, when I was on a vacation.  I thought that it might just be silly, campy, funny...and it is in a way. I mean, come on, it's Archie vs. Zombies, for Pete's sake. But, this is a well-done, and really quite scary piece of work. Hot Dog is hit by a car, and Jughead in devastation turns to Sabrina the Teenage Witch to help him resurrect his beloved friend. But some times dead is better. Jughead is bitten and so begins the zombie apocalypse of Riverdale.

The artwork is gorgeously disturbing. Francavilla always has this fantastic pulp comic style that I really enjoy. And I can't wait to see where this story goes. According to the afterword, things are going to get real dark, real fast. This is going to be one I collect.
