November 23rd is the big day, Whovians! The 50th anniversary special is almost here! I am excited to see Smith and Tennant together and I am really looking forward to John Hurt as the Doctor! It will be simulcast on BBC America, and so that means that in the states it is airing at the seemingly bizarre time of 2:50 pm ET.
Additionally, there will be 3D cinema showings all over the country (and the world, for that matter) on November 25th! I am SO there. Look in your area for participating theaters.
I was hoping more of the previous Doctors would be appearing as cameos, but that might not be happening. Recently, Colin Baker told Doctor Who TV that he wasn't invited and neither were any of the old Doctors. I assume there will be clips of them in character, but the actors themselves weren't asked to come and be on the show. So that's a bit disappointing, but I still think we will have a very exciting program.
Plus, some of you may not be aware that there are a lot of extras coming out around the special. According to BBC America (It will be different schedules for other countries, of course) Monday, November 18th, will be a major marathon day. It starts with Doctor Who: The Companions at 8 am ET, followed by each of the Doctor Who:The Doctors Revisited episodes- 1-10. That takes us all the way up to 9 pm ET, when a new program, Doctor Who:Tales from the TARDIS will air. The show is called a "retrospective special featuring interviews with Smith, Tennant, past Doctors, Tom Baker and Peter Davison, plus others associated with the series over its run." Source That will then be followed by another all new show, Doctor Who: The Science of Doctor Who with Brian Cox. " Brian reveals the science behind the spectacle and explains the physics that allows Doctor Who to travel through space and time. Fun, but filled with real science, it’s a special night for Who fans as well anyone with a thirst for understanding." Source
Holy cow! Set up your DVRs, folks.
On November 22nd, BBC America will be airing Doctor Who Explained, a brand new show that will feature former cast members, at 8pm, and An Adventure in Space and Time, at 9pm ET.
Source Sounds cool.
And then, of course, the following day is the big she-bang. Here's a description from the BBC: "In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him." Source Also at 10pm, Matt Smith and David Tennant are set to appear together on the Graham Norton Show, so stick around for that.
And then...oh my God, there's more? Yep. On the 24th, Matt Smith's own The Doctor's Revisited: The Eleventh Doctor special will air at 8 pm ET.
Are you excited?? I can barely contain myself.
So. Much. Doctor. Who.
Happiness level: Bliss
