A Doctor Who Christmas Regeneration

Well, we've only just gotten over all of the excitement of the 50th anniversary special, and we're straight on into the speculation about what the Christmas episode will bring. One thing is certain- Matt Smith's Doctor is going to regenerate into Peter Capaldi. Some of us are really looking forward to this transition, and other people (like my poor daughter) are getting teary-eyed just thinking about it.

But what else do we know about the special yet? Surprisingly little. There is still no long trailer for the show, but there is a teaser which you can watch here:

So, we are going back to Trenzalore...that part is not surprising. They have been hinting about the fall of the 11th for a while now, and whereas Tennant had the ominous four knocks to look for, Smith knows Trenzalore is his doom.

But there is more we can learn from some of the recent pictures that have been released. And one of them features...a wooden cyberman??

That's different. View the full gallery here: Christmas special gallery

So, things are getting exciting. I'll post updates and new trailers as they release. For now, here is the schedule and description for the show.

"Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe."

For the UK,  The Time of the Doctor airs Christmas day at 7:30 pm on BBC1.
For the US, the show will be playing at 9:00 pm Eastern Time on BBC America.

This is not a simulcast, so if you're in America, you may want to avoid social media for a while leading up to the special.
Spoilers, sweetie. ;)

The trailer is now out!!

It's on BBC.com here: http://www.doctorwho.tv/whats-new/video/the-time-of-the-doctor-trailer/
