The Blackthorn vampires are back!

Michele usually covers this series but I'm going to begin this series sometime this month (reviewing only the latest, Blood Torn). I would love to hear from anyone that has already read Blood Roses or Blood Shadows. Should I be bumping this to the top of my TBR mountain? What's the heat level? Is the series more urban fantasy or paranormal romance? Tell me what you think! ~Anna

‘Vampires might bite, honey, but lycans tear.’

Jask Tao, lycan leader, rules his pack with absolute dedication and demands the same loyalty in return. In the world of Blackthorn, where respect is a rare commodity, Jask has earned his – few dare to cross him, and fewer survive to tell the tale.

When he captures Sophia, a rare serryn witch – whose blood is lethal to vampires – Jask knows just how valuable she can be. Despite her fiery nature, he also can’t shake the feelings that she rouses in him – feelings that he thought died along with Ellen, his mate.

Sophia knows she has to escape from Jask’s lycan compound – and fast. Inheriting her sister’s serryn powers can only mean one thing – that her family is at risk. She’ll have to get past the dangerously attractive Jask first but, scarred by memories of her mother’s murder, Sophia won’t evergive up.

Sparks fly between Jask and Sophia but, as both her family and the pack come under threat, they might just need each other if they, and their loved ones, are going to stay alive…

In this thrillingly sensual novel, Lindsay J. Pryor returns to the shadowy dystopian world of Blackthorn, where tensions are rising, the risks are high, and the most powerful loves are formed in the face of great danger.

I'd say it's a good mix of PNR and UF, harsh male characters, decent world-building, no TSTL in general. It's pretty gritty series, I've enjoyed it, although haven't read book #3 yet.

P.S. Reminds me of D.B. Reynolds' style

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'll hold onto this one for when I'm feeling less happily ever after and more let's kick some ass!

You have to start with Blood Shadows - it's just amazing. Then you get to meet Caleb. I said in my review that boy should come with a warning, he's that good, well bad ;).

Loving the new covers for the series and can't wait to read Blood Torn! Roll on the end of the month x

Second attempt to comment - The characters are strong and independent with that touch of unpredictability that sharpens both the UF and PNR elements. The emotional investment is well worth...well, the investment. Hot and gritty but not gratuitously so. A sharp and intelligent series I'll follow for as long as new titles are added!

I just love both of the books written so far. Both heroines are feisty and the bad-ass vamps have certainly met their match. I found both books impossible to put down and can't wait to read Blood Torn and any subsequent installment, so we can delve further into the dark world the author has created.

I have been lucky enough to read all 3, my review for Blood Torn is coming soon. You should most definitely bump it up to the very top of your TBR list, as should everyone else who has read the previous books.

The books as a series are opening up the various levels of Blackthorn and their inner workings really well. They are a mix of PNR and UF. The male characters are pretty dark, but with a certain side to them which appeals!

Blood Torn also contains elements and characters from the other books. Anyone who hasn't read them yet should get them now before the third one comes out.

One of my favourite authors, and the little snippet at the end of Blood Torn has me desperate for more!

Oh my goodness bump it up! Blackthorn is dark, gritty and oh so sexy. Having just read Blood Torn I can honestly say it's my favourite of the series and I adored Blood Shadows and Blood Roses. Loads of exciting twists to leave you wanting more.

Oh definitely bump this right to the top! I can genuinely say that I haven't been this excited about a PNR series for years. I read the first two and am literally chomping at the bit for Blood Torn! The Blackthorn series is dark and edgy, the characters are captivating and you will always be left wanting more.

An intriguing mix of urban fantasy and paranormal you should definitely put to the top of your TBR pile.
The Blackthorn series is notably unique with male characters you'll remember for their sensuality, ruthlessness and loyalty to who and what they believe in.
Read in order for maximum impact.

Thanks for the input everyone! Looks like I might be bumping this series up after I finish my RT books for the month.
