Free Comic Book Day

This Saturday is Free Comic Book Day!!

What is that, you ask? Well, besides the obvious- you get free comic books- it's a event held on the first Saturday of May when comic book stores give out freebies, hold costume events, signings and guest appearances, and other fun, nerdy events to drum up enthusiasm for comics and for their stores.

Obviously events will vary from store to store and comic supplies are limited, so it's important to check with your local store to see just what they are offering. Here's a handy web page to help you find out what is in your area. http://www.freecomicbookday.com/storelocator
Just type in your zip code and it will help you find participating retailers.

Comics this year include: Archie, The New 52, Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, Hello Kitty, Spongebob, Jellaby, Rocket Raccoon, Valiant, Hatter M, Teen Titans, The Tick...and lots more. View a full list here.

And here is a page with some pro-tips for planning your day- what to expect:

This is a perfect chance to introduce kids to comics or get a sampling yourself of what is out there, if you aren't reading them now, but want to start.
So, go have some nerdy fun this weekend! I'll be heading on over to my local store, Heroes and Villains!
See you there!

We will definitely be heading to our local shop for this one! We try to go every year and it's always a lot of fun. Crowded, but still fun:)
